Who (didn't) Kill the Electric Car?

This article is sort of blowing my mind right now. The idea is that you can buy a pretty cheap car with a blown engine that's in otherwise working order, for say about $2k. Then you can replace the engine with an all-electric drivetrain for another few thousand, and voilà! You end up with a perfectly good, very reliable electric car for about $6-7K that operates for a few cents per mile, rather than over 10 cents per mile with a gasoline car.

Now the big question is, where can i find a DeLorean with a burnt out engine?

Amory Lovins Is My Hero

His name sounds like a porn star's, and he looks the opposite of one, but he's a genius, and something about hearing him speak just makes me say 'ahhhh' to myself.

Charlie Rose is kind of an idiot... what's with his Marshall McLuhan non-sequitur in this interview? It's like, "Oooh, I heard the name McLuhan, lemme throw out the only thing about him I know!"
