But Words Will Never Hurt Me

24 April 2007 in

A Vietnam vet presented GWB with one of his purple hearts for enduring "injuries" from personal attacks during his time in office.

"He said he didn't feel like he had earned it," Thomas said.

No duh.

Goat crowned King of Ireland

DUBLIN, Ireland (Reuters) -- A goat named Louis was crowned King of Ireland on Thursday in one of the country's oldest festivals.

Each year a wild male mountain goat is caught in the foothills of Carrauntoohill, Ireland's highest mountain, and paraded through the country town of Killorglin as part of the Puck Fair -- an annual festival of music, drinking and dancing.

The goat then reigns for three days from a platform 15 meters (50 ft) above the town's streets.

Send More Internets, Plz

3 July 2006 in

Got this via kos, but the full version is on a Wired blog. Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) is on the Commerce Committee, where network neutrality is being debated. Here's part of his take on why network neutrality legislation should be shot down:

There's one company now you can sign up and you can get a movie delivered to your house daily by delivery service. Okay. And currently it comes to your house, it gets put in the mail box when you get home and you change your order but you pay for that, right.

But this service isn't going to go through the internet and what you do is you just go to a place on the internet and you order your movie and guess what you can order ten of them delivered to you and the delivery charge is free.

Ten of them streaming across that internet and what happens to your own personal internet?

I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why?

Because it got tangled up with all these things going on the internet commercially.

That just... pains me.

The Perils of Electronic Voting

30 June 2006 in

Somebody found an exploit to this student government voting script, it would seem:

  • 847 Michael Blake
  • 628 Mike Fong
  • 618 Tamara Kagel
  • 512 Nafis Ahmed
  • 78 No Confidence
  • 57 Bud French
  • 24 Dr. McSquishypants
  • 21 NUMB Fuckin' Tenor
  • 17 John Elway
  • 14 No vote cast

(I'm limiting my count of the election results to those who received more than 10, you can follow the link for the rest of them).

I'd like to hear Dr. McSquishypants' concession speech, now, please.
